Indroduction.


Twitter is a social networking software where you can read and write messages. Twitter texts cannot be longer than 140 characters. It is like an SMS where you can write short messages in your telephone, in other words it is called micro-blogging. You can also send
short messages from your mobile to Twitter web page. Twitter messages are referred to as tweets. How can you read tweets? In your Twitter homepage you can read your friends', cousins', company's, etc. messages if you follow them. You can also read messages from different lists (which you can create or follow). What can you use Twitter for?  

San-Antonio-based market analysis analyzed 2,000 tweets and seperated it into 6 categories [1].

Pointless babble – 41%
Conversational – 38%

Pass-along value – 9%

Self-promotion – 6%

Spam – 4%
News – 4%


As you see people use Twitter more for pointless babble. For example, they post what they plan to do, what they did, they talk about other people, etc. Companies usually use it as a self-promotion method.

    • Based on the provided materials and other, discuss about the pros and cons of this application in your blog.
    • Create your account, post a tweet and follow one of the other participants.
  • Reflect your thoughts on your Twitter page:
    • What did you learn from this lesson? What kind of questions/ideas did it raise for you?
    • What kinds of things were difficult or frustrating? Which were easy?
